My name is Natasha Hill. I am a 58-year-old, single woman; never married; with no children and difficult family circumstances. I was a professional (a GP) but had a severe traffic accident in my 20’s which left me struggling with my health and ability to work. I also had cancer in my early 50’s, resulting in severe on-going complications, which left ongoing problems in my chest, neck & shoulders plus increased pain and sleep loss.

Treatment needed

I need several reconstructive operations, which are not available in the public system. There is one surgeon for the chest and one for the jaw. I need jaw joint replacements to relieve ongoing pain, protect my teeth from being further fractured and allow me to chew effectively. The other operations are in the chest region. The first is a fat transfer between bone and severely damaged skin to improve its resilience prior to further stages of the chest repair. The chest defects are primarily responsible for ongoing shoulder damage and dysfunction. Most of the costs will be paid by my health insurance which was generously gifted and keeps these costs from being much higher. I want to take advantage of this generous gift by having as many of my needed surgeries as possible while I am covered.

How Much?

I need at least $16,000 for surgery fees and follow up costs. The anesthetist has agreed to charging rebate only and the prostheses is covered by health insurance. The same operation is available interstate but would cost about $20,000 more. I am trying to raise money for the gaps for these two surgeries plus the admin fee for fundraising on this platform.

Why?

I lost my home & superannuation due to the willful dishonesty of others while I was unwell and relying on my family and Power of Attorney. I now rely on a Disability Support Pension and charity (such as the Hands & Feet Ministry) to get by. I do not have much money left over to pay for my many medical needs.

Praise God & thank you so much to everyone that donated and prayed for success in my surgical endeavours.

Please continue to pray for all my surgeries to be successful and without complications.

We have now raised the amount needed for the initial surgeries in both my chest and jaw.

I have an appointment booked with the jaw surgeon on the 24^th of August to finalise preoperative arrangements. I hope to have my surgery on either one or both jaw joints as soon as possible after the 28^th of September (two months after the last injection of Botox into my jaw muscles).

As I can manage, I will approach the Dental School in Herston, as advised by the Queensland Health Dentists to see if they can undertake work to allow my remaining teeth to mesh with the least possible tension and displacement of upper and lower jaws relative to each other. They are the only possible public option to do this. I have been advised that the complexity of my case should have it escalated relatively quickly to determine if they can help.

The 1^st chest operation will also occur, once some final clarification needed due to new developments, is received. Further information is being sought, to avoid the loss of future functional reconstruction / regeneration possibilities which are newly under development.
