Hi, my name is Joshua and I am the youngest of eight. My story started nine years ago when I was born in Vietnam and suffered a cerebral haemorrhage. I started therapy in Australia when I was 7 months old to help with my developmental delays. My family, therapists and teachers have helped me to do lots of things that I might not have been able to do by myself.

I am doing well but I still need lots and lots of opportunity to develop my fine and gross motor skills and my communication and language. My dream is to one day go to the same school as my brothers.

Joshua’s Update

Joshua’s speech therapy has been going well but he is not moving forward as quickly as he could. We believe that we could assist his progress with a touch screen computer and software as we could then be doing extra work at home with Joshua.

We have also started music therapy with Joshua who will teach him to project his voice so that it is louder; it will also help with pronunciation, tone and tongue control. The combination of music therapy and speech therapy will also help to accelerate Joshua’s communication skills and makes it lots of fun.

Joshua has been enjoying school. He loves excursions, cooking and is learning to be independent. His teachers take him to the supermarket where he must find and purchase the ingredients for the cooking classes. Joshua is able to practice his fine and gross motor skills at school and at home.
