Description
Our vision for Hayley is to be able to live independently and to contribute to society. The most important lesson Hayley teaches us is that no matter how bad things may be there is never a reason to not smile.
Hello, my name is Hayley. I am two years old and have cerebral palsy. I am the youngest of four. I love Elmo and I love playing with my brother and sisters. We are raising money this year for educational and therapy aids and special outside play equipment so I can play with my family with ease and safety.
Hayley’s Story
I was born 16 weeks early and spent my first few months in neonatal intensive care. Thirteen days after my birth, I contracted an infection that went to my brain and resulted in Hydrocephalus. Less than a year later I was officially diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
I will be 2 years old this year, and I have been rolling for the past couple months (a big f eat for me!). I recently started 'army' crawling and sitting using my arms to keep myself from falling! My name Hayley means ‘Hero’ and everyone who knows me says I’m truly that! Those who meet me say I am the happiest child you could ever hope to meet, and everyone comments on my beautiful smile and super long eye lashes! I have taught my family many lessons in life already - the most important one is that no matter how bad things may be, there is never a reason to not smile. Mum and Dad say I am a true fighter and with my determination and all my therapy, I am slowly but surely progressing.
Hayley’s Needs
To help me to continue to progress, and to be able to live a 'normal' life unfortunately requires money. My biggest dream this year is just to be able to play with my brother and sister’s in our back yard safely. In the future I will also be needing a wheelchair to help me get around longer distances, as walking can be very tiring for those with cerebral palsy, this means I will also require a wheelchair accessible vehicle. In the meantime, I am hoping to get some therapy aids and educational toys so that mum and dad can help me with my therapy at home with the proper equipment.
